The problem now is that when a simple link to any BBC story is posted, all that is seen on my forum is the main story image with no links whatsoever.

But here on Destinja, it shows correctly, like this:

This is how I would like to show on my forum, so I don't understand why there is a difference.

Perhaps I should uninstall then reinstall the plugin?

As reported in the WoltLab forum the mapping function in Gallery 3.1 stopped working suddenly and the only solution was for me to sign up to Google Cloud Platform with my credit card details, even though my forum will never exceed the 25,000 free API calls limit.
